    The Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 469 has ongoing programs which offer members a wide range of activities. Preservation work, marking Confederate soldiers' graves, Confederate Memorial Services, historical re-enactments, scholarly publications, and regular meetings to discuss the military and political history of the War Between the States are only a few of the activities sponsored by local camps. Mark your calendars now for the following upcoming events:

Celebration of the Confederate Woman

   Myrtle Hill Veterans Plaza at 3:00 PM. Nell Reagan - Mistress of Ceremonies. There will be a joint placement of the wreath by the UDC and SCV. Benediction will be given by Mike Ragland. Refreshments to follow hosted by the SCV.

April 12 Tunnel Hill Celtic & Heritage Festival, Tunnel Hill, GA
April 12 and 13 Civil War Encampment at Red Top Mountain. The Cherokee Artillery will be participating. A good event for anyone interested in seeing what is involved in reenacting.
April 26 National Confederate Memorial Service at Stone Mountain Memorial Park. Keynote Speaker will be Commander-in-Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Ron Wilson.
April 27 Confederate Memorial Service on Sunday, 3 P M at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Rome. Keynote Speaker will be Dr Norman Dassinger, Past Commander-in-Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and retired Professor at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. It is free, and all are welcome.
May 6 Due to a conflict at the library, the decision as to where future meetings are to be held will be determined at the May meeting which will be held at the Shriners clubhouse.
May 17 and 18 Battle of Resaca Reenactment, Resaca, GA
May 26 Memorial Day Parade and Service to honor Military Veterans of all    U S Wars since 1776. We will need SCV members with uniforms that are in good shape to assist with the parade and service.
June 5 Camp meeting, Rome Floyd County Library, 7:00 PM
June 28 City of Menlo 4th of July parade, 11:00 AM Confederate Headstone Dedication in the Alpine community - Mike Ragland will be main speaker, 2:00 PM

July 11 Gen Nathan B Forrest Birthday Celebration, 7:00 PM at Adams Furniture, Rome, GA

September 5 through 7 10th Annual Battle of Tunnel Hill, Tunnel Hill, GA

October 2 Camp meeting, Rome Floyd County Library, 7:00 PM
October 5 Confederate Memorial Service for Private Reddick Perry, Jr., 3:00 PM at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church located on the Alabama Highway west of Rome. Main speaker will be Past Commander Mike Ragland.
October 18 and 19 Living History at Mentone, AL on the 18th, and a Living History and Confederate Memorial Service on the 19th at 12:00 noon honoring the Alabama 19th Regiment.
October 25 Motorcycle Heritage Ride. Will leave Rome midmorning with first stop at LaFayette, then Chickamauga Battlefield, then to Tunnel Hill and back to the Shriners Clubhouse in Rome where they will participate in a Black Powder Shoot at the Shriners Clubhouse on the north end of Bells Ferry Road.
October 26 Confederate Memorial Service for the Confederate ancestors of Genese Shelly, wife of Wayne Shelly. Service will take place at the Mizpah United Methodist Church located on the Kingston Road at 3:00 P M. Main speaker will be Past Commander Mike Ragland.
November 6 Camp meeting, Rome Floyd County Library, 7:00 PM. Main speaker will be Wayne Shelly, who will speak on The Roswell Women.
December 2 The Camp float will be entered in the Annual Rome Christmas Parade.
December 4 Camp meeting, Adams Furniture, Broad St, 7:00 PM. Main speaker will be Dr Keith Bohannon, who will speak on Weapons and Tactics of the Atlanta Campaign.
December 6 The Jefferson Davis Memorial will be held at 3:00 P M at the Silver Creek Presbyterian Church in Silver Creek. The main speaker will be Rev Kenneth Studdard.
