    The Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 469 has ongoing programs which offer members a wide range of activities. Preservation work, marking Confederate soldiers' graves, Confederate Memorial Services, historical re-enactments, scholarly publications, and regular meetings to discuss the military and political history of the War Between the States are only a few of the activities sponsored by our camp. Mark your calendars now for the following upcoming events:

Jan. 4 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
Jan. 25 Lee-Jackson Dinner to be held at 7:00 at Paul's Oyster Bar. New officers for the Rome and surrounding Camps will be sworn in by SCV Past Commander-in-Chief Dr Norman Dasinger.
Feb. 1 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
Feb. 3-4 Dalton-Chickamauga Civil War Relic Show, Dalton Trade Center off Walnut Ave., Dalton, GA
Mar. 1 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
Mar. 31 Confederate Memorial Service for Doris Higgenbotham's ancestor, Pvt. Leonard Benjamin White, of Co A, 9th Regt, Inf of Ky, who is buried at DeArmanville Methodist Church in DeArmanville, Alabama. Main speaker will be Dr. James R. Proud. Ceremony to start at 3:00 Georgia time.
Apr. 5 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
Apr. 8 Confederate Memorial Service for Mike Wilkersons' ancestor, Capt. Wilson Parks Howell, of Co I, 25th AL, who is buried at Oak Level UMC Cemetery in Oak Level, AL. John Butler will be Master of Ceremonies, and Past Commander Mike Ragland and Dr. Norman Dasinger will be the main speakers. The singing group Un-Reconstructed will be performing Civil War period music. Ceremony to start at 3:00 Georgia time.
Apr. 21 The Calhoun SCV Camp will have its Confederate Memorial Day ceremony at the Confederate Cemetery at Resaca.
Apr. 22 The Rome SCV Camp will have its Confederate Memorial Day ceremony at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Rome, GA. at 3:00. Past Georgia SCV Lt. Commander William Lathem will be the main speaker.
May 3 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
May 5 Highway 41 Clean-Up. The Rome and Calhoun SCV Camps will meet to clean up the highway between Resaca and the Confederate Cemetery prior to the Battle of Resaca Reenactment.
May 19 The Gordon County Historical Society and the Calhoun United Daughters of the Confederacy will hold a Memorial Service at the Confederate Cemetery north of Resaca, GA at 10:00 AM. Calhoun SCV Camp Commander Ken Padgett will be the main speaker.
May 19-20 Battle of Resaca Reenactment, Resaca, GA.
May 26 Confederate Memorial Service for Clarence Higgenbotham's ancestor, Pvt. Isaac Robert Higgenbotham, of 41st Regt, TN Volunteer, in Leesburg, Alabama. Past Commander Mike Ragland will be main speaker. Ceremony to start at 3:00 Georgia time.
June 7 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
July 5 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
July 13 Military Confederate Ball scheduled for 8:00 at the Rome Civic Center. The 8th Regiment Band will perform. Cancelled
Aug. 2 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
Sep. 6 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
Sep. 20, 22-23 As many members as possible will be needed to put up the tent at Big Cedar Thursday at 5:00. All members are urged to help shuck corn and man the tables at Big Cedar Arts & Crafts Festival in Cave Spring, GA.
October Confederate Memorial Service for Thornton Adams, Confederate Ancestor of Don Adams. Service to take place at Connesena Baptist Church Cemetery near Kingston. Time and date to be announced. Cancelled
Oct. 4 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
Oct. 20 The dedication of Ft. Norton will take place at 10:30 AM at the civic center in Rome, GA. All SCV and  UDC members are urged to attend. Proper dress will be uniform or casual dress. At this time the walking trail through the fort, named 'Major Gilbert Smith Trail', will be dedicated. The Georgia 8th Regiment Band, as well as the Cherokee Artillery, will be present.

All SCV and UDC members, as well as reenactors, have been invited to march in the Rome, GA Heritage Holidays parade which will start at 4:00 on Broad St.

Nov. 1 Camp meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
Nov. 27 Camp 469 will participate in the Rome Christmas Parade which will start at 5:00.
