FORREST’S DISPATCH
February 2012

Nathan Bedford Forrest Camp 469, Rome, Georgia
A Historical, Educational, and Preservation Organization

February 2nd will be our regular Camp meeting. The meeting is at 7pm, but we hope to see you at 6:30 for an opportunity to meet and greet.  You will not want to miss this meeting; we have a descendant of George Noble, one of the six brothers who founded and ran Noble Brothers Foundry.  Robert Noble’s great grandfather was a member of the family who produced and supplied the Confederate Army with cannons.  They have since been prominent members of our community and helped shape the landscape. Robert is an architect in Rome, whose firm has worked on many projects in our county.

CAMP PLANS FOR 2012

The many events we participate in or plan ourselves will be the same as always, but we have more to do and with new officers and new members looking forward to it.  Our members now have a chance to step up and lead these new members, showing them how we honor the Charge of General Stephen Dill Lee. We will cover these events and give everyone the opportunity to select which one or ones they wish to help the camp support.

JOINT LEE-JACKSON DINNER A SUCCESS!

This evening had everything an event this prestigious should have: A fitting tribute to the two most recognized leaders in the Confederacy, adding Jon Meador to the cause as a new member to our camp, receiving his certificate of membership, respect and praise to God, swearing in the new officers of camps 669 and 469, fellowship among those of both camps, and last (but not least), an outstanding meal prepared by Dana Lee, of Captain Max Van Den Corput’s Battery 669.  WOW! What a night.
