    The Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 469 has ongoing programs which offer members a wide range of activities. Preservation work, marking Confederate soldiers' graves, Confederate Memorial Services, historical re-enactments, scholarly publications, and regular meetings to discuss the military and political history of the War Between the States are only a few of the activities sponsored by local camps. Mark your calendars now for the following upcoming events:

 

 

January 3 Camp Meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
January 19 The Lee-Jackson Dinner will be held at Provino's Restaurant, Rome, Ga at 7:00. Camp officers for 2002 will be sworn in. The main speaker will be William Lathem.
February 7 Camp Meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM.
February 9 & 10 Dalton-Chickamauga Civil War Relic Show, Dalton Trade Center off Walnut Ave., Dalton, GA
March 7 Camp Meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
April 4 Camp Meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
April 21 Confederate Memorial Service for Thornton Adams, Confederate Ancestor of Don Adams. Service to take place at Connesena Baptist Church Cemetery near Kingston, Ga at 2:00 PM. Past Camp 469 Commander Mike Ragland will be main speaker.
April 27 Dedication of Confederate Memorial Wall in Walker Co. Ga SCV Commander Allen Trapp to be featured speaker. Followed by barbecue and Confederate Ball at the Reed House. Ga 8th Regt Band to provide music at the ball.
April 28 Confederate Memorial service at Myrtle Hill Cemetery at 2:00. The main speaker will be P. Charles Lunsford, President of the Heritage Preservation Association.
May 2 Camp Meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
May 4 SCV Camp 469 will sponsor and participate in a Living History at Ft Norton in conjunction with Rome, Ga's Mayfest. (Due to upgrade work at the site, this Living History will be postponed until later notice)
May 18 The Resaca Battlefield Memorial Service will start at 10:00 at the Confederate Cemetery north of Resaca. Charlie Lott, Commander of the SCV Camp in Villa Rica, will be the main speaker. The Georgia 8th Regimental Band will provide music.
June 6 Camp Meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
June 7, 8 & 9 State SCV Convention in Moultrie, Ga.
June 22 & 23 A Black Powder Shoot with long guns and cannon will be held at the Shriner's clubhouse on Bells Ferry Rd in Rome. Marksmanship competition between local organizations is planned, as is live-firing a long rifle for a small fee. A Civil War-period .44-caliber Remington pistol will be raffled off. Saturday - 10:00 to 6:00, Sunday - 1:00 to 6:00.
June 30 Confederate Memorial Service for Pvt Henry Adolph Stoffregen, 19th Ala Regiment, Co A, will be held at Myrtle Hill Cemetery at 3:00 PM. Main speaker will be Past Commander Mike Ragland. Co A, Floyd Legion will present the musket salute.
July 4 No meeting scheduled
August 1 Camp Meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
September 5 Camp Meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
October 3 Camp Meeting, Rome-Floyd Co Library, 7:00 PM
October 13 Confederate Memorial Service for Dr Cally Denson will be held in Lincoln, AL at 3:00 Georgia time.
October 19 & 20 SCV Camp 469 will sponsor and participate in a Living History at Ft Norton. Along with uniformed reenactors, the Cherokee Artillery is expected to participate.
November 4. November 6 in case of rain SCV Camp 469 will sponsor and participate in a Living History at Model Elementary School in Shannon, GA. There will be camp life and rifle loading demonstrations, as well as a firing of the cannon. Camp 469 members, uniformed reenactors and the Cherokee Artillery are expected to participate.
