With a Camp that is as active as Camp 469, it is good to receive a little bit of publicity amongst our compatriots. In case you missed it, the 2005 first quarter issue contained a photo from last October's Heritage Holiday Parade on page 35. On page 33 of the most recent issue, May/June 2005, Don Adams and the Floyd Legion are shown at the Andrew Ripley McEver Confederate Memorial Service in Cass. BIKE RIDE FUNDRAISER UPDATE Logistics are still being worked out regarding the planned motorcycle fund raiser this fall. David Rigney is in the process of finalizing details and will give us a report at the July meeting. Tentative date for the ride is the weekend of September 10th and 11th. The ride will begin either in Rome or Kingston and travel to Tunnel Hill, ending at the Battle of Tunnel Hill Re-enactment. Complete details will be in the August newsletter. SHELBY FOOTE REMEMBERED Civil War historian and storyteller Shelby Foote passed away on June 27th at his home in Memphis, TN at the age of 88. Foote will be most remembered as the consummate Southern storyteller who was best known for his epic, 3 volume history, "The Civil War: A Narrative," and his folksy commentary on Ken Burns' PBS documentary. CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL PLAQUE Memorial plaques are still available to honor your Confederate ancestor. We've added one so far this year and the cost is only $10. Contact Stephen Carnes for more information. POTENTIAL FALL ACTIVITIES Camp 469 has the potential of a busy fall schedule which includes the following:
