Camp 469 is proud to announce that we had 66 gentlemen in attendance for the Camp photograph on April 4. The photos are presently being prepared for distribution and will be ready by the May Camp meeting. For those of you who wish to have the photograph mailed to you, please send a check for $12 made out to SCV Camp 469 and mail it to: SCV Camp 469, 76 Plantation Dr., Rome, GA 30165l. It should be noted that the July Camp meeting will take place at Ft Norton, not the library. There, Camp member John Carruth will give a talk, and possible demonstration of, the big guns of The War of Northern Aggression. We are still holding at 51 names of Confederate Ancestors on the Confederate Memorial Plaque in the library. There are 9 spots left before this plaque is filled. $10 will display the name, rank, company, regiment and state of your ancestor as well as your name. STATE SCV CONVENTION The 2004 SCV State Convention will be held June 11th and 12th at the Dalton Northwest Georgia Convention and Trade Center. Information on items to be voted on will be forthcoming by the May Camp meeting. It should be noted that, unlike the National Convention, we will not be able to vote 'by proxy', meaning we must have 9 members present to use our 9 votes. NATIONAL SCV CONVENTION The 2004 SCV National Convention will be held July 28 through July 31 at Dalton's Northwest Georgia Convention and Trade Center. Ben Terry, Gary Worthan, Commander Adams and Lt Commanders Hamby and Durden will represent our Camp and our 9 votes. As with the State Convention, information on items to be voted on will be forthcoming by the May Camp meeting. While the Camp would like to have at least 10 voting members present, we will be able to use all our votes in one block since 'proxy voting' is permissible. SCV Camp 469 was well represented for the solemn occasion of the burial of the crew of the CSS H L Hunley in Charleston, SC. State Commander Bridwell is presently putting together a list of everyone who was present from Georgia. At the May meeting, please let the Camp Adjutant know who attended. This list should include everyone from Georgia, whether or not they are a Camp member.
