NEXT MEETINGThe next meeting of SCV Camp 469 will be Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Senior Center on Riverside Parkway . The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 pm following the Executive Committee meeting. Our guest speaker will be Commander Dale Mitchell of the Chattooga County Camp. Commander Mitchell will give a presentation on the resurgence of their camp. Please make plans to attend.
REDNECK YARD SALE On March 14th, SCV Camp 469 will be participating in the Redneck Yard Sale at State Mutual Stadium from 7 AM to 3 PM. Volunteers are needed to assist through-out the day selling our Southern Heritage merchandise.
LINDALE YARD SALE SCV Camp 469 is collecting “yard saleable” items for the Indoor Yard Sale at the Gilreath Recreation Center in Lindale. This sale is also on March 14th beginning at 7 am and ending at 12 noon . Any items you may have around the house or barn that you want to get rid of for the benefit of the camp should be brought to the March 5th meeting. Volunteers are also being sought for this location. See Adjutant Stephen Carnes for details.
ROAD SIDE CLEANING On March 15th beginning at 8 AM the camp will conduct a “road side” clean up on Hwy 20 West between mile marks 11 and 12. We will meet at the intersection of Hwy 20 and Barker Rd. This is the second year in which the Camp has participated in the Adopt –A- Road Program. 2nd Lt. Commander John Harrison is heading this detail.
CWPT PARK DAY Once again SCV Camp 469 will participate in the Civil War Preservation Trust “Park Day” activities. This years date is April 4th and work begins at 9 AM at Myrtle Hill Cemetery . Camp members and volunteers from the community will be cleaning Confederate headstones throughout the cemetery. All volunteers will receive a CWPT T-Shirt or patch for their efforts and will be treated to a presentation by local historian Phil Wood on the importance of the preservation of our parks, battlefields and cemeteries. A sign up sheet will be passed around at the March meeting. Check with Commander Jim Dugger for details.

March 21: Cartersville Confederate Memorial Service: Cassie Barrow will be the guest speaker. Location: Downtown on the square at the courthouse. Time: TBA
April 18: UDC Rededication of the General Nathan B. Forrest Monument at Myrtle Hill Cemetery . This is the 100th anniversary of the monument. Time: 3:00 PM
April 19: Confederate Memorial Service at Blue Pond Church on Morrison Camp ground Rd. Time: 3 pm. Camp Chaplain Austin Goggans officiating. Confederate period dress encouraged.
April 26: SCV Camp 469 Confederate Memorial Service at Myrtle Hill Cemetery . Time: 3 pm Speaker: TBA
May 2: Confederate Memorial Service for Captain William Walters, Co. H, 18th Georgia Infantry. The service will be conducted at Pisgah Baptist Church in Coosa beginning 2 pm. The Cherokee Artillery and Company A of the Floyd Legion will participate.
May 15-16: Battle of Resaca. Hwy 41 North, Resaca . 2 pm
