NEXT MEETING

The next camp meeting will be held Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Sara Hightower Regional Library promptly at 7p.m.

Chickamauga Camp Commander, and former 1st Brigade Commander, John Culpepper will be our guest speaker. His topic will be the Chickamauga Campaign Trail Project.

DALTON RELIC SHOW

Quartermaster John Harrison reported that we sold over $200.00 worth of merchandise at the Dalton Civil War Relic Show in early February. John also reported that an additional $100 was raised via raffle towards building a monument to Van Den Corput’s Battery (Cherokee Artillery) in Cave Spring.

SUTLER’S TENT

If you weren’t able to make it to Dalton, be sure and check out the Sutlers Tent on the camp's website. This is a great addition to the site and will make your Christmas shopping easier by not have to fight the crowds at the mall for your favorite Confederate apparel and gifts.

ARCHAEOLOGY UPDATE

The UGA Geoarchaeology team returned to the Myrtle Hill Cemetery on February 11th to further explore what lies buried in the Unknown Union graves. Camp 469 has been instrumental in funding this study and an update will be given by Commander Durden at the next meeting.

FORREST MONUMENT

The N B Forrest Monument, marking the site where General Forrest captured Able Streight just across the Alabama line, was recently damaged by a large truck. Ron Cescutti is doing the leg work on rebuilding this monument and rededication is scheduled for sometime in June.

CONGRATULATIONS

Camp 469 member and student at Darlington School, Michael Rebman, was recently inducted into the Darlington Honor Society. Michael also recently started a history club at the school. Congratulations Michael!
