General Nathan Bedford Forrest Sons of Confederate Veterans, Rome, Ga. Camp 469 Newsletter – March, 2004The next Camp meeting will be Thursday, March 4, at 7:00 at the library. We will not have a speaker as this is only a business meeting. Among the things to be discussed will be:
Tickets for the Confederate Ball are available now. Due to illness or personal reasons, we lost 10 members for the calendar year 2003-2004. However, after receiving 3 transfers from other Camps, 2 past members rejoining and 2 new applications, we are back up to 87 members strong and have a good possibility of climbing to 95 by the end of March. We recently added 6 names to the Confederate Memorial Plaque in the library. There are 11 spots left before this plaque is filled. $10 will display the name, rank, company, regiment and state of your ancestor as well as your name. Don't forget that the Camp website can be found at [www.scvcamp469-nbf.com]. To access the list of current members, go to the Camp Officers link, then click on [members only] at the bottom of the page. Your user name is member and your password if rome469. CAMP PHOTOGRAPH April 4, 3:00 PM at the foot of Myrtle Hill Cemetery. All Camp members are requested to attend for the first-ever photograph to be taken of the entire Camp. Everyone will be contacted by phone. At that time, if you anticipate a transportation problem, let us know. We WILL get you to and from the event. Proper attire will be Sunday best or period dress. Wear your SCV pin, tie, and all SCV medals you have acquired. Clyde Collier will be taking the photograph which will be an 8X10. An outline of all the participants will be placed on the back of the photo with names of the members in the outline. The photographs will be available to members for $10 each. The photograph will then be submitted to the Confederate Veteran magazine and The Georgia Confederate newspaper. Other Upcoming Events April 16 & 17 - Charleston, SC. The burial of the crew of the Confederate submarine H L Hunley. April 24 - Confederate Ball, 7:00 PM at Heritage Hall located at Glen Milner Blvd and E 3rd Ave in Rome. The 8th Regt Band will present the music and Tim Key will be the dance master. Bring the family and friends. Dress will be Sunday best or period dress. April 25 - Confederate Memorial Service at Myrtle Hill Cemetery at 3:00.
