NEXT MEETING

The next Camp 469 meeting will be held on Thursday, December 7, at the Senior Center on Riverside Parkway beginning at 7 pm.

A covered dish dinner will be held as we conduct our President Jefferson Davis Memorial Celebration. Past Camp Commander Mike Ragland will be our guest speaker. Members and guests are encouraged to attend.

NOVEMBER MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

We had an unexpected guest at the November meeting. SCV Field Representative Jack Marlar gave a brief, yet energetic, update on the SCV and the many activities the SCV is involved in. Jack has promised to return in the spring and be our featured speaker.

Also, Chip Tilley gave a most informative presentation on the railroads in Rome during the Civil War. Chip has also promised to return soon and enlighten us on the impact of the rail system in Rome in the mid-19th century.

2007 ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Election of officers for 2007 will be held at our December meeting. The nominating committee has presented the following names:

Commander: Ben Terry

1st Lt Commander: Jim Dugger

2nd Lt Commander: Josh Johnson

Adjutant: Stephen Carnes

Special thanks should be extended to the nominating committee for all of their hard work and dedication to the Camp.

PRAYER LIST

Please include Earl Eskridge on your prayer list. For those who may not have heard, Earl took a nasty fall off a ladder the week before Thanksgiving. After spending several days in the ICU and 3 North at Floyd Medial Center, he was discharged home to continue his recovery.

Cards can be sent to P O Box 283, Shannon, GA 30172.

WE ARE # 1

CAMP 469 PLACES 1ST IN ROME PARADE

For those who missed the Rome Christmas Parade results in the Rome News-Tribune, the Camp float placed first in the Adult Division in the 2006 Rome Christmas Parade held on November 28th. Our floats are usually well received by the judges and crowds and are justly rewarded.

Thanks should be extended to all who participated in the parade and especially to the Lamar Fowler family for their hard work decorating the float.

Several more opportunities to participate in area Christmas parades are still available to Camp members and their families. Please make plans to join in the fun and celebrate Christmas on the Camp 469 float.

December 4th: Summerville

December 9th: Cave Spring
