Camp 469 Newsletter – December, 2005

NEXT MEETING

The next Camp meeting will be held Thursday, December 1, 2005 beginning at 7 p.m at Adams Furniture on Broad Street in Rome.

PRESIDENT JEFFERSON DAVIS BIRTHDAY DINNER

SCV CAMP 469 will observe the birthday celebration of their President at the December meeting. As in the past, this will be a covered dish, family affair, so bring food… and bring the family.

We will dispense with any meeting matters, eat, and then enjoy a presentation on the President of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis.

Remember, this is a family affair, so bring your family, friends and neighbors…and your appetite.

Festivities begin at 7 p.m.

DUES REMINDER

Just a reminder that Camp dues are past due and are still only $38.00. Please remit payment to Camp 469, 76 Plantation Drive, Rome, GA 30165.

In addition to the monthly newsletter, as a member, you receive a subscription to the Georgia Confederate Newspaper and The Confederate Veteran Magazine. All are great sources of information regarding our quest to honor our Confederate ancestors.

SILVER CREEK LIVING HISTORY

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the Living History held at Silver Creek Methodist Church on November 20th. Hugh Durden and John Butler gave an excellent presentation on the flags of the Confederacy.

Also, Camp member Phil Carver discovered that his GG Grandfather, Mr. Denison, was a member of the Confederate army and is buried in the Silver Creek Methodist Church Cemetery.
