Commander Jim Dugger at [Strollinjim@Gmail.com].
REDNECK RUMMAGE SALE
Thanks go out to all Camp members who assisted Merroll Smith with the Redneck Rummage Sale held on Sept. 20th. It was a big financial success and a great way to represent the Camp. Thanks to Merroll Smith, Bobby Barton, Ben Terry, Austin Goggins and Merroll’s brother-in-law for taking time out of their weekend for this project.
EVERYONE SING DIXIE !
A NON-POLITICAL REMINDER
The local Camp of the SCV is made up of many individuals with many opinions on any given subject. It has always been the policy of SCV Camp 469 to remain a non-political organization with no official ties to any particular party or organization. Camp members are encouraged to be active members of their community, but they are also encouraged to leave their politics behind when they pass through the meeting doors each month.
Although it is an election year, the only election we need to concern ourselves with is the election of 1860. Just as a reminder, the election pitted four candidates for the office of President. John C. Breckinridge, Southern Democratic Party from Kentucky, Stephen Douglas, Northern Democratic Party, Illinois, John Bell, Constitutional Union Party, Tennessee and Abraham Lincoln, Republican Party, Illinois. We all know the ultimate outcome of the election, but did you know that the Constitutional Union Party was formed from members of the former Whig Party and Know Nothing Party who could not support either the Democrat or Republican Party.
SCV CAMP 469 ELECTIONS
A nomination committee has been formed for the selection of potential Camp officers for 2009. Please contact Don Adams, Merroll Smith or John Butler with your suggestions. SCV Camp 469 Newsletter 76 Plantation Drive Rome, GA 30165 Editor: Jim Dugger
