Camp 469 Newsletter – October, 2002

The next Camp meeting will be on October 3 at 7:00 at the library. Our featured speaker will be Bill Daniel, Commander of the Jacksonville, AL SCV Camp. Mr Daniel will give a presentation on Confederate Currency.

Among the things to be discussed during the meeting will be:

The recommendations from the nominating committee for officers for the coming year

The progress made on the Confederate Memorial Service for either Augustus Wright or Robert Battey

The progress made on the different choices the Camp has in promoting the Gen Lee and Gen Jackson documents in possession of the Chieftains Museum

Whether we will enter a float in the Rome Christmas Parade

Don’t forget that Denson Hamby has a Confederate Memorial Service in Lincoln, Al on October 13 at 3:00 Ga time honoring his ggg uncle Dr Calley Denson. Lincoln is located about 30 miles south of Gadsden off Highway 77 just north of Interstate 20. It’s a little drive, but remember - this is what we do.

The Confederate Memorial Plaque is half filled. We need your Confederate Ancestor’s name, rank, regiment, company, state and how you wish your name to appear on the plaque. Each one is $10.
